This all came about because about 3 months ago, I emailed my resume off to after school care programs. However, after not hearing anything for about a month or so, I thought that maybe there wouldn't be a position that was open and therefore wouldn't hear back from them. I had applied for other jobs in the past (just retail jobs) and I hadn't had a response back from a couple, so I wasn't expecting anything from this.
However, about two weeks ago now, I finally got a response from one of them, apologising for the delay in response and asking if I was still interested in working there. So I sent back a reply saying that I was and that I would love to gain experience of working with kids. That was almost a week ago.
Then just yesterday (the 6th), I got a reply asking if I could come in for an interview next week and also a job trial. So yeahh, that's pretty exciting!
Last year, I volunteered as a helper at that same primary school (which is my old primary school) for the homework club that they set up. I went along for most of fourth term (about 9 weeks or so) and helped a couple of boys with their homework. I kind of got attached to one particular boy, as I worked with him each time for about a month. And each week I would go up to his classroom and help him create word searches or word puzzles on the computer. And we would joke around and I enjoyed working with him.
But anyway, ever since then, I've wanted to get a job that was working with kids, as it is something I would enjoy and I also hope that it would keep me enthusiastic about studying Primary Education at university (plus, it's a much better job than being in retail or something). So I'm trying to not get my hopes up too much, just in case I don't actually get this job. But I'm also really nervous because I want to do well and impress them and get the job.
If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments :)
