1. If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be?
I would want to live in the Harry Potter book series, no doubt about it. I say the book series because there is so much precious detail that was missed in the movies and the character personalities were somewhat different in the books to the movies. Also, being able to create your own images of the characters and locations and objects and whatnot in that world would be amazing!
2. How would you spend a million dollars?
I would probably give at least half of it away to different charities. I would then give some to my family and use the rest to travel and buy things I've always wanted to buy.
3. In what ways do you hold yourself back?
I'm too safe. I don't usually go out and do risky things, even if there's no danger of physical harm. I also don't have enough belief in myself.
4. Does society create technology or does technology create society?
I think it's a bit of both. I mean, we literally create technology and come up with new ideas to create new pieces of technology (such as the iphone when it came out). However, with society today having so much technology within easy reach, we've become a society that is obsessed. Not only with these new creations, but constantly using them - if we're at home, if we're at a friend's house, if we're out somewhere and it's either boring or awkward...
5. What book has influenced you most?
It depends what you mean by 'influence'. As you probably know by now, I grew up reading Harry Potter, so it has had a huge influence in my life. I'm not sure I would be quite the same person I am today without that series.
Perks of Being a Wallflower was a book that influenced me in a bit of a weird way. I related so very much to the main character, Charlie, and things that happened in his life (apart from the depression). It made me realise what sort of personality I have and how I could use it to benefit me.
6. If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future?
I would want to go to both. I want to be able to go back in time and meet my grandfather and watch the moon landing and see famous actors/actresses and bands and whatnot.
But I would also like to go to the future to see what this world is like. I'm not sure if I'd want to see my future self and the life I would have or not...
7. Would you rather explore a new planet or the deepest parts of the ocean? Why?
Definitely definitely explore a new planet! I absolutely adore anything to do with space, so if I got that opportunity (without the threat of dying or anything), I would so do that. I think it would be super duper awesome to discover a new planet, actually explore it and see how different and similar it would be to our own planet Earth.
8. What teacher inspired you the most? How?
My high school Pastoral Care/Homeroom/English/Film and TV teacher was the teacher that inspired me the most. He was amazingly kind and thoughtful and was always there when we needed it. He was also the best Film and TV teacher anyone could ever have - he was so knowledgeable on not only the cameras, but how they were used in different films and how particular movies and tv shows were edited so that they portrayed a type of genre.
Although he didn't originally inspire me to actually become a teacher, I know that if I were to be as half as good a teacher as he was, I would be succeeding.
9. What words of wisdom would you pass onto your childhood self?
I would tell myself to pay more attention in high school and put more effort into assignments. Maybe join some of the clubs that the school was running. I would also tell myself to not be so afraid of admitting feelings towards girls, even if they didn't share those feelings.
10. Who was your first kiss?
My first kiss was a girl in high school. I was Grade 12 (last year of high school) and she was Grade 11. We met when I went to the midnight screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. I think it was a few weeks after that that we hit it off.
