That was sarcasm, of course. If you didn't get it while reading.
On Tuesday, I met up with a couple of group members to try and discuss our next group assignment. However, we ended up talking about prac and our experiences and what it was like. And it was really really nice, because we were talking in detail. I really like my group.
On Friday night, I decided to go along to my old highschool's Music Extension concert. For those who have no idea what that is, it is a subject within some schools that students can pick. It is an extension of a normal music subject - the students work towards two main performances. One towards the start of the year, in which they only have to perform one piece, whether it is through singing or playing an instrument, or they can choose to compose a piece of music - that way they don't actually have to perform. The second performance, towards the end of the year, consists of the student having to perform multiple pieces, or compose, or even accompany another student, that total 15 minutes. The students are recorded on video, which is then sent off to a group of markers who determine how well they did. They also have to complete a research assignment in the middle of the year.
This year, they have to most amount of students doing Music Extension that they have ever had, so they have had to split it up into two nights (in previous years, it was just one night - however it was quite a long night for the longer performances). Friday night was the first night and this year, I know a few of the students - they were my Year 8 (first year of highschool) buddies when I was in Year 12 (senior year). Now they are in Year 12 and only a few weeks off finishing school forever. Anyways. Quite a few of the performances on Friday night were singers, some either accompanied with a guitar or playing guitar themselves while singing. Two were compositions, one which was actually performed using a launchpad (http://global.novationmusic.com/launch/launchpad#) which was pretty cool! And there were two students who played piano. They have a really good year this year, so everyone did really well, but of course there were some stand-outs!
Then today (Saturday) I had a friend's 21st party. He was a mate I went to school with and he was in some of my classes during high school. We were quite close, especially during Year 12. But then we finished school and we kind of drifted. But a couple of months ago, I decided to contact him and see what he was up to. We had a decent chat, not overly long. But it must have been enough to be invited to his party (apart from being close at school). I only knew a couple of others there, one of which I also went to school with. I noticed that me and this other friend were the only two from our grade that were there, which deep down, actually meant a lot to me. It was just at a local park, but I still enjoyed myself.
Monday night I'm hoping to go back to see the second half of the Music Extension concert. Though I also have an assignment due that night, so I'll have to see how I go with that, whether I go or not. And Tuesday night is the school's showband pre-tour concert, which should be great! I was a part of the showband every year during high school and enjoyed it immensely! So I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with this year.
After that, my social life should calm down for a while. At least, I'm hoping it will, as these next few weeks I'll be busy with assignments. Fun times.
