Then I had a tutorial a few hours later… oh man. That kind of almost ruined my day (up to that point, at least). We were all sitting, listening to the teacher talk and only a few people every now and then would speak up. Then suddenly the teacher kind of got up us, saying that we should talk more and ask more and know more, even though we’ve never done anything with that particular subject until this semester. So it was a little downgrading, but at the same time, the teacher shouldn’t have expected that much of us.
That evening, however, I went along to my old high school’s musical rehearsals. Each year, they do two full days of rehearsals, in which that week they also have their performances. So I walked in and I got to see two of my old teachers as well as some past students (who are older than me) who I got to know while we were both at school. They were discussing things about school and whatnot, so I decided to leave and not long after that, I got to see some of my friends who are in the musical this year. I hadn’t seen them for aaaaaggesssss so it was nice to catch up again! It was a full dress rehearsal, so I got to sit and watch them go through the whole show. This year’s musical is Godspell, and I was a part of that when I was in high school, so all the songs and some of the spoken acting lines started coming back to me while I was watching. So there I was, singing along to some of the songs and mouthing some of the spoken lines. Also, there were times when I was smiling like an idiot, remembering the feeling of being up on that stage. Then during the “intermission” break, I got to speak with my music teacher, who I’d had as my music teacher from Grade 9 (second year of high school) to Grade 12 (last year of high school). It was really really nice being able to talk to her again, as I haven’t really talked to her for a few years.
It made me really happy to be back there. It kind of made me sad in a way as well, because I really miss being up on a stage, either singing or acting (though I was more of a singer than actor). But it was such a good end to the day!
